Illinois Valley High School is a coeducational institution that offers classes to more than 700 students in grades nine through 12. Its academic departments include social studies, mathematics, English, science and foreign languages. It provides a wide range of athletic activities, such as football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, cheerleading, wrestling, and track and field. It operates various clubs, including booster, beta, key, art, drama and mountain biking clubs, and the National Honor Society program. The school provides fine arts, and also offers physical, career and technical education classes. It offers special education to students with disabilities, such as speech, hearing and visual impairments. The facility features carpeted and air conditioned classrooms, a fully equipped theater and auditorium, gymnasium, common rooms, and a library media center that offers more than 15,000 volumes, and audiovisual and computer technology. The high school was established in 1976 and is located in Chillicothe, Ill.
