The Illinois Department of Human Services, founded in 1997, is one of largest government agencies in Illinois with more than 14,000 employees. It maintains various divisions, such as alcoholism and substance abuse, community health and prevention, developmental disabilities, human capital development, mental health and rehabilitation services. In addition, the Illinois Department of Human Services provides services for clinical, administrative and program support, as well as compliance access and workplace safety. The department supports several initiatives, including the Illinois Disabilities Services Advisory Committee, Illinois Information Technology Accessibility Act, Assets Illinois, Partners for Hope, and Illinois Rescue and Restore Campaign. The Illinois Department of Human Services operates more than 15 locations throughout Illinois.
