Today, Betty is an accomplished artist, artisan, and art instructor with over 30 years of experience. Her love for all things art, and instinctive need to be creative, and her talent for sharing the artistic experience with others establishes the framework for Betty James Studios and the genuine Art-icle. Betty's studio work concentrates on creating realistic and organic sculptural forms in glass, metals, polymer clay and beadwork. She spends timeless hours creating whimsical and floral glass bead motifs, which come together in her one-of-a-kind jewelry designs and kaleidoscope constructions. Of course, she delights in helping customers design and create their own custom pieces of art. As an art instructor, she believes: A teacher of art provides artistic and practical knowledge to students for greater understanding and control of their creative process, while personally assisting them to discover their own unique artistry. Betty is constantly expanding her knowledge of the visual arts and artisanship by taking classes with other highly skilled, master artists and artisans. She has studied under Loren Stump, Michael DuPille, Scott Cole, Sherry Viktora, Joyce Rooks, Ellie Burke, Larry Cimaglio, to name a few. She delights in exploring new techniques, materials, and ideas in the visual fine arts and crafts. In the course of sharing the artistic experience with others, Betty has developed extensive knowledge and skills in the fine arts and world crafts, from architecture to zigzags. She has worked with students of every age and skill level. She has held a wide variety of teaching positions as an art instructor ( lampwork beads, drawing, ceramics, photography ) and she has taught in various settings ( public, private, college, home-school venues ). 2010 Betty James Studios, LLC 201 W.
