Friedman Place is a nonprofit living community for blind and visually impaired adults. Established in 1944, the community offers cultural, social and educational opportunities for blinds. It provides personal assistance with the activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, walking and grooming. Friedman Place provides transportation, laundry, housekeeping and meal services. It offers medical services in the areas of podiatry, psychiatry, psychology and ophthalmology. The facility maintains a weaving workshop, barbershop, beauty salon, exercise room, medical clinic, library, outdoor patios, and more than 80 studio and one-bedroom apartments. Its apartments feature refrigerators, kitchens, air conditioners and emergency alert systems. Friedman Place maintains a location in Chicago.
