The Frankfort Public Library serves 25,000 library district members and has a selection of more than 200,000 books, CDs, videos and other media.
One of the library's unique features is its five gardens that have been donated by the community, the staff and patrons. The most striking garden is the J. Edward Mahoney Sculpture Garden in the front of the library. The garden features the Adler and Jewell Carlsen Fountain, created by Illinois blacksmith Roger Carlsen in memory of his parents; The Library Girl, created by Michigan sculptor Fritz Olsen; and Conception, created by metal artist Bruce Niemi.
The library also has one of Chicago's "Cows on Parade." Literary Lucy: The Library Lactator was painted by John Santoro and is on display in the reading room.
