Maryville Academy is one of the oldest residential child care facilities in the United States. Formerly known as St. Mary's Training School for Boys, the academy has been operational for more than 100 years. Maryville offers special programs and treatments for physically, sexually and emotionally abused and neglected children, and at-risk youth. Approved by the Council on Accreditation, Maryville has branch locations in Chicago, Des Plaines, Bartlett and Durand, Ill. The academy also offers private residential treatment programs for boys and girls with mental health disabilities, diagnostic evaluation, short- and long-term rehabilitation, emergency shelter for toddlers, preteens and adolescents, 24-hour pediatric clinic, and fully accredited psychiatric hospital. Additionally, it provides step-down unit for the chronically ill patients up to 21 years of age, respite care, and programs for pregnant and parenting teens.
