S. I. Kincaid and Sons, Inc was founded in 1918 when Isaiah and Jessie Kincaid branched out from the family business in Louisville, Illinois. Jessie and Isaiah believed in taking care of customers, consistently looking for ways to both attract new customers and improve service to existing customers. Isaiah passed away in 1966, and Jessie carried on as president until early 1997. Steve Kincaid II and son-in-law Dale Florer became vice presidents and the business continued to grow. Stephen I. Kincaid III joined the family business after college. Granddaughters Kim Mathews and Robyn Anderson now serve as vice presidents. Robyn's husband Curt Anderson is now president. Our business started as primarily a hardware store. It has grown over the years into a strong retail and wholesale business, featuring more than 65, 000 items. A unique 30, 000 square feet, old-school store that's a refreshing antidote to the big boxes. With an inventory tailored to the area, plus exemplary service. We are fortunate to enjoy a great diversity of customers, from commercial and contractors to retail DIY customers. This diversity provides a very solid foundation, and a measure of stability that is particularly important in our current business climate. We're a viable part of the community and now enjoy the patronage of grandchildren and great grandchildren of previous customers. Our warehouses (over 100, 000 square feet) house lumber, building materials, and contractor supplies. Leaving the retail facility ample room for a full selection of hardware, tools, plumbing, lawn and garden, paint, farm supplies, home d cor, housewares, electronics, and clothing. Banks of cabinets hold fasteners of every imaginable size, length, head configuration, and description. A knowledgeable employee will help you locate what you need, whether it's a single tiny machine screw for a vintage microphone or enough wood screws to build a deck. We converted to Do It Best in 2005 which included some extensive renovations and product resets, and new additions: Lumber and a Home D cor Center. The new section features three kitchen vignettes, bath vanities, and a complete hard surface and soft surface flooring selection including ceramic, porcelain, wood flooring, and carpeting. Keeping in mind our broad customer base, the home d cor area focuses not only on retail customers, but also on commercial customers such as developers and property managers. We provide a full array of pricing options from low-end builder grade to high-end semi-custom options. Someone who is remodeling an apartment can buy a very cost-effective cabinet, but if a customer wants a nice high-end kitchen, we'll do a custom design using the latest computer software. Growing our business and attracting new customers requires us to explore new opportunities, and keep our store fresh, exciting and connected to the needs of today's customers. Providing a broader range of services and support than our competition is a great way to be more of a one stop shop for all our customers' or contractors' needs, translating into long-term mutually profitable relationships. Outside sales personnel are supported by salespeople at the store who write up orders, figure estimates, and make deliveries. We are also expanding in areas like E-Commerce. Online shopping and product research is becoming more and more a part of the basic shopping experience for many consumers. Time, convenience, price there are many reasons that allow us to compete effectively. We are making smart investments, in areas that will further differentiate us from our competitors. The purchase of a boom truck, for example, has been cost effective in reducing labor and time required for deliveries. The ability to place materials on the second story or rooftop also benefits our customers, with increased efficiency and safety.
