HistoryOwner Mike Dunbar began, as many people do, in the improv and comedy circuits in Chicago. Eventually he moved on to write, direct, and produce a myriad of theater productions before his career took a major step forward in 2010 when he collaborated with a group of the city's most talented artists to found Bailiwick Chicago. Through Bailiwick he began to focus on his interest of creative design, producing, and production management. After adding countless designs to his portfolio he took a leap of faith and started his own design and fabrication company, Illumivation Studios. What began in his tiny apartment office has grown to a bustling business operating out of a 7000sqft studio on Chicago's south-west side.SpecialtiesCreating high quality props, sets, exhibits, decorations and displays for clients in every industry. We employ a full time staff to design, sculpt, paint, construct and decorate a wide variety of projects. Through our in-house fabrication services we use a massive array of materials including wood, foam, rubbers, resins, fabrics, fiberglass, artificial & preserved plants, and paints. Our prop design and fabrication teams put years of industry experience and techniques into every project from giant over-sized pieces to realistic replicas.
