Calumet City Public Library has been a charter member of the Suburban Library System since the late 1960s. The state-of-the-art library facility offers residents a collection of adult and children's materials in all formats, including more than 126,000 books, and over 8,000 audiocassettes and CDs. It also offers more than 4,600 DVDs and videocassettes and 330 subscriptions to magazines and periodicals. Calumet City Public Library has more than 20 computers providing Internet access available for public use. In addition to accessing the Internet, the computers also have Microsoft Office, WinWay Resume, and Touch Typing Now for public use. The library's automated services offer access to a variety of online databases without an additional charge. Trained reference librarians can search the holdings of Virtual Illinois Catalog, FirstSearch, Ebscohost MasterFILE, Reference USA, a database of more than 12 million businesses throughout the United States, and the Internet.
