History
Bookends & Beginnings was founded in June of 2014 by author and food reporter Nina Barrett. The original store, located in the alley behind 1712 Sherman Avenue in Evanston, was once home to the revered antiquarian bookstore called Bookman's Alley. You'll find Bookman's Alley immortalized in Audrey Niffenegger's bestselling novel The Time Traveler's Wife, in which the main characters spend an afternoon shopping there.
Specialties
Bookends & Beginnings offers a large selection of new books, used books, and publisher remainders in its original store, located down the alley behind 1712 Sherman Avenue. An additional location, opened in 2021 right around the corner at 1716 Sherman Avenue, features stationery and gift items, including greeting cards and boxed cards, journals, pens and pencils, literary-themed apparel, games, and puzzles. Our website at www.bookendsandbeginnings.com lets you order for store pick-up or ship-to-home, with access to thousands more titles than we carry in the store.
