Elementary School District 102, located in La Grange Park, Ill., is governed by a board of education comprising seven members. The district provides educational instruction to students in grades kindergarten through 12. It governs various elementary, middle and high schools, including Congress Park, Cossitt Avenue, Forest Road, Ogden Avenue and Park Junior High. The district governs Allen P. Zak Science Discovery Center that features an outdoor pond with acquatic flora and fauna, a butterfly habitiat, a flight cage, a range of fish tanks, salt water and fresh water tanks, learning stations and a Starlab Planetarium for astronomy lessons. Its Parent Advisory Committee participate in a variety of enrichment programs, including Worlds of Wisdom and Wonder, Camp Invention, Kaleidoscope and summer reading programs sponsored by the local library. Elementary School District 102 offers a variety of extracurricular activities, such as band, orchestra, chorus, math club, science exposition, speech and drama, student council, French Club, intramurals and newspaper.
