Managed in part by the affable Jim Pomerantz, BAT 17 is a small but comfortable deli and pub which takes pains to ensure a fine dining experience - for example, every BAT 17 sandwich is made with bread exclusively baked by Evanston's own Bennison's Bakery, which uses organic and whole grain flours. BAT 17 also uses corned beef and pastrami from Chicago-based Kelly Eisenberg Deli, free range chickens from Midwestern farms and homemade original desserts such as frosted oatmeal cherry cookies.
