Association for Individual Development is a private nonprofit organization. Operational for more than 40 years, the organization serves over 2,500 individuals of all ages with developmental and physical disabilities. It offers a wide variety of community-based programs, such as developmental training and screenings, occupational, physical, speech and aquatic therapies, vocational development, and supervised community living. The organization also offers case management, respite program, home-based support and outpatient behavioral health services, alcohol and drug counseling, psychosocial rehabilitation, homeless youth, and group services. Its crisis services programs include crisis line of the Fox Valley, crisis intervention services, sunshine calls, victim services, and ceasefire. Formerly known as the Aurora Association for the Mentally Retarded, the organization is a United Way agency. Association for Individual Development is approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. It has branch offices in Aurora, Elgin and Yorkville, Ill.
