The Assistance League is a national non-profit organization. The volunteers of the Assistance League of Chicagoland West serve communities in the Western suburbs through education and outreach programs. The organization has an online thrift shop where local families can donate used household items that have a minimum value of $50. It also runs several programs, including Operation School Bell, which provides children with new clothes and supplies for school; Operation New Start, which gives brand new kitchen equipment and supplies to families who are transitioning from temporary housing to independent living situations; Operation Early Reading, which provides training materials to preschool and kindergarten students and Operation Friendship, which offers events and companionship for the residents of Canticle Place in Wheaton.
