Amtrak, founded in 1971, is one of the busiest passenger rail transports in the United States. It operates more than 20,000-miles of rail track in over 45 states in the U.S. The routes taken by the trains include various states, such as California, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Vermont. It provides online reservation of tickets and schedule information to customers. It also provides handicap assistance and wheelchair provision. It owns more than 1,000 railroad passenger cars and over 400 locomotives. Amtrak has three heavy maintenance facilities in Wilmington and Bear, Del., and Beech Grove, Ind. It also has maintenance facilities in Washington, D.C., Chicago, New York City, New Orleans, Los Angeles and Seattle.
