This is the National headquarters for the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS), an organization of almost 2,000 orthopaedic surgeons who specialize in treating foot and ankle ailments. In order to qualify for the AOFAS, an orthopaedic surgeon must have completed medical school, as well as an additional five years of on-field training, and be a member in good standing with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. The AOFAS offers continuing education-style courses for its members, to assure that the nation's leading orthopaedic surgeons stay at the top of their field.
