The Farmers State Bank of Western Illinois has been a financial partner with area communities since its original charter as the Farmers State Bank of Alpha on Jan. 22, 1910. In 1980, Alpha Banco was formed and purchased a majority of Farmers State Bank of Alpha. In 1988, the Bank of Viola was purchased and the name changed to Farmers State Bank of Western Illinois to be more inclusive of the community that the bank serves. In 1990, Alpha Banco became the sole owner of FSB of Western Illinois.
