Specialties
Acanto is the casual, inviting Italian restaurant and wine bar on Michigan Avenue, steps from Millennium Park. Featuring Executive Chef Chris Gawronski's (Also of The Gage) authentic, seasonally-driven cuisine, Acanto's specialties include: house-made pastas, an in-house charcuterie program, stone oven pizzas and coastal seaside plates. Executive Pastry Chef Kym DeLost (also of The Dawson and The Gage) crafts desserts that decadently showcase fresh ingredients and draw inspiration from traditional Italian sweets. No Italian meal is complete without a perfectly paired beverage. Beverage Director and Sommelier Jon McDaniel curates Acanto's award-winning wine program with offerings from all of Italy's 20 regions. Acanto is part of the Gage Hospitality Group which also includes Beacon Tavern, Coda di Volpe, The Dawson and The Gage. The word Acanto is the Italian translation of Acanthus - the flowery leaf used extensively in Roman architecture and by famed architect Louis Sullivan in his distinctive terracotta ornamentation found on the facade of the historically landmarked building at 18 South Michigan Avenue.
