A Knock at Midnight (AKAM) is a non-profit community-based organization located on the south side of Chicago. Established in 2003, AKAM aims to provide direct services to communities in Auburn Gresham, Englewood, West Englewood, and West Chatham, as well as extending its services throughout the city and surrounding suburban areas. With a focus on family advocacy, AKAM offers a range of programs and initiatives to empower and support families in need.
Led by Executive Director Minister Johnny L. Banks Sr. and Director Ida M. Brown, AKAM brings together over 15 years of professional experience in public health, community development, and the nuances of the civil rights movement. Through their various programs, AKAM strives to address issues such as education, workforce development, computer literacy, and community justice, with the ultimate goal of helping the community and making a positive impact on the lives of the people they serve.
