About Picket Fence Situated in the small town of Ketchum, Idaho, just one mile south of the popular Sun Valley ski resort, The Picket Fence is an independently owned boutique that caters to locals and vacationers alike, many of whom have come to ski, hike, bike, hunt, fish, golf, or even just to relax within the gorgeous mountain landscape. We are a community store and whether you are here in Sun Valley for a day or for a lifetime, when you walk through our doors, you become a part of that community. Founded in 1978, The Picket Fence was originally opened after DJ, a recent transplant from New Orleans, realized that there was not a single place in town to buy bedding. Now, thirty or so years later, even with its new owner, Lynn, the store remains a well-loved local landmark, and though our inventory has expanded to include Simon Pearce, Jan Barboglio, Rani Arabella, Bulgar dinnerware, and jewelry by Monica Rich Kosann and Temple St. Clair. The Picket Fence is still the preeminent spot for household linens and bedding in not only Ketchum and Sun Valley, but also surrounding towns like Hailey and Bellevue. When you enter The Picket Fence it is hard to believe you are standing in a retail store. From the layout and floor displays, to the hearts of the people who work here, The Picket Fence feels like home ; a home full of caring people that are eager to serve you in any way they can, a home decorated not only with all of the necessary bits and pieces you need to live comfortably, but also an array of stunning and luxurious items that can easily be seen as unique and beautiful works of art. The Picket Fence takes great pride in the vendors we sell, not only because of the outstanding quality of their products but also because of the art they bring to each and every piece they manufacture. One of the most important things in a person's life is where and how they choose to live. Not only is your home something to enjoy and to be proud of ; it is also a reflection of who you are and what is meaningful to you. The Picket Fence respects and honors each individuals need to fill their space or the space of those they love with things that help to make their lives more comfortable, more beautiful, and finally more special. For those of us that work here at The Picket Fence what we do is not a job, but rather a labor of love ; aiding others in the discovery and art of "nesting."
