Established in 1971, Southwest District Health offers nutritional and family health services. Its food protection program focuses on the regulation and inspection of vendors, food establishments and food processing companies to ensure safety and sanitation. Southwest District Health provides wellness assessment, health screening, and general athletic and pre-employment physical examination services. It also programs that emphasize prevention and awareness services for diseases, such as tuberculosis, AIDS, hepatitis, measles, polio, pertussis and food-borne infections. The organization provides immunization services for children and adults to prevent them from vaccine-preventable diseases.
