Salmon-Challis National Forest is spread over an area of more than 4.5 million acres in Idaho. It serves as a highly desired recreational destination for hunting, fishing, whitewater rafting and other water sports pursuits. Salmon-Challis National Forest s engineering department offers construction, reconstruction and maintenance services for roads, bridges, campgrounds and recreation sites. The department also prepares and administers various projects related to well drilling and the construction and maintenance of water systems, vault toilets and hiking trails. The forest additionally provides habitats for several fish, bird, animal and rare plant species.
