KIFI began broadcasting on radio back in 1947 - it was run by Jim Brady. Brady is the son of J. Robb Brady who owned and operated the Post Register Newspaper in Idaho Falls. In 1961, Brady began broadcasting KIFI-TV as an NBC affiliate. KIFI was the second television to broadcast in Eastern Idaho with 316,000 watts, making it the most powerful station in Idaho at the time. In January 1996, KIFI became an affiliate of ABC.KIFI began broadcasting on a simulcast digital signal in July 2003 on Channel 9. In August 2005, News-Press Gazette purchased KIFI from the Post Company. David R. Bradley, Jr. is president of the company. News-Press Gazette, a private, family owned communications company based in St. Joseph, Missouri. News-Press Gazette owns several mid-west newspapers including the St. Joseph, Missouri News-Press & Gazette newspaper, cable TV holdings primarily in the West as well as TV and/or radio stations in Palm Springs, California, Yuma, Arizona and Bend, Oregon.
