Located in Southeastern Idaho near the community of Malad City, Hess Pumice Products is a mining and processing operation specializing in the extraction and refining commercial deposits of white pumice. In continual operation since 1958, it is one of the leading producers of finely ground processed pumice. The company produces over 300 spec grades of pumice for industry from quarter-inch nuggets to the consistency of talc-all made from pumice. Some of its clients include Boeing, Bayer, BAE, Kerr, Fuji Film, NEC, Exxon Mobile and Permatex-Loctite.
