The Mountain Home Volunteer Fire Department is responsible to provide fire suppression, extrication assistance, and hazmat and rescue services. It covers more than 250 square miles of residential, commercial and wildland property. The department offers training for the use and deployment of portable fire extinguishers. The Mountain Home Volunteer Fire Department also provides training. Mountain Home Fire Department also offers training for individuals and businesses who are interested in learning the proper use, testing and placement of in-home smoke detectors. It maintains a fleet of over five apparatus and several engines. The department also has a ladder truck and command vehicle. The Mountain Home Volunteer Fire Department is governed by the city of Mountain in Idaho, which additionally manages police, economic development public works, and parks and recreation departments.
