The Queen's Medical Center is one of the largest, private, nonprofit medical care hospitals in Hawaii. It is a 500-plus-bed facility that has more than 3,000 employees. The center provides primary and specialized care services. Founded in 1859, The Queen's Medical Center also specializes in nuclear medicine, pelvic muscle rehabilitation, psychiatric treatment and diabetes. It offers pharmacy, physical therapy, ultrasound and weight management services. In addition, the center provides a range of residential programs. The Queen's Medical Center offers text and speaker telephones and closed captioned devices for hearing and speech impairments. Each of its rooms is equipped with a patient telephone and television. As a part of The Queen's Health Systems, the center is accredited by The Joint Commission.
