The Department of the Prosecuting Attorney for the county of Maui serves the islands of Maui, Moloka`i and Lana`I in Hawaii. It is responsible for the prosecution of those who violate the criminal and traffic law, rules and regulations of the state of Hawaii and the county of Maui. Located in Wailuku, Hawaii, the department has various divisions, including felony prosecution, screening, family court, misdemeanor prosecution, investigative services, and victim and witness assistance. The Department of the Prosecuting Attorney employs deputy prosecuting attorneys, legal secretaries, investigators, and victim and witness counselors. It supports the Kako'o Pono volunteer program that is a project of the victim and witness assistance division initiated to recruit volunteers from the community.
