Established in 1983, The Hawaii Foodbank is a nonprofit agency that provides a range of food services through several charitable agencies. It collects, stores and distributes perishable and nonperishable food items and serves more than 240 member agencies, including food pantries, rehabilitation centers, and homeless and abuse shelters, as well as various food banks. Additionally, the agency offers financial and educational services. It provides food assistance to low-income families, senior citizens, children and unemployed individuals. The agency is a certified member of the America s Second Harvest, which is a network of national food banks. In addition, it conducts several fundraising events. The Hawaii Foodbank is located in Honolulu.
