Hawaii Church For the Deaf
Founded in 1918, Hawaii Center for the Deaf and the Blind is a school that provides educational programs and services for students those who are deaf, heard-of hearing, blind and partially-sighted students. It utilizes the American Sign Language, which emphasizes students in speech, finger spelling and speech reading. It offers various sports activities, such as cross country, football, volleyball, air riflery, tennis, bowling, basketball, wrestling, soccer, softball, swimming and track and field. The school s clubs and organizations include student body government, kuli rainbow club and yearbook. It offers various resources and materials for development of students, such as reference books and picture dictionary. Additionally, it serves meals to the students and is located in Honolulu.
