History
Cindy's Lei Shoppe has long been recognized as a landmark in Chinatown, one of the oldest lei stands in Hawaii, and the local favorite to buy fresh flower leis. Cindy believes it was her good fortune to marry into a first generation Chinese-American family that sold leis and corsages out of the Lau barbershop in the 1950s. Born and raised in Canton, China, Cindy was astutely aware of her need to master not only the English language, but the trade and craft of lei making and lei selling as well. From 1961, devoted husband, children, and family worked tireless hours in that same Chinatown location to establish her own store, and named it Cindy's Lei Shoppe. Cindy is proud to have a daughter, two sons, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren to continue this fourth generation family business. The shop continues to be honored for its variety, availability and customer care. Mention
