Blue Hawaiian Helicopters began as South Seas Helicopters on Maui in 1983. In 1985, David Chevalier instituted an employee buy-out and took over its operations and changed the company name to Blue Hawaiian Helicopters in 1989. The company has grown to become one of the largest helicopter tour operators in the state of Hawaii with bases on Maui, Hawaii, known as the Big Island and Kauai. Each helicopter owned by the company is equipped with four cameras. Blue Hawaiian Helicopters staffs experienced pilots and also offers transportation to golfers, hikers and travelers who may have limited time or who want to visit lesser-traveled areas, and to businesses and others who may want to use helicopters for transportation, in addition to viewing scenic sights.
