History
The business began in the late 1800's by Andres Nelson in Honolulu, Hawaii. His son, Art Nelson owned the business until 1960's. Andres Nelson Jr. (Sonny) grew up sailmaking and owned the business until his retirement in 2003. Larry Stenek, the present owner, began working for Sonny in mid 1970's as a rigger. He became involved with Ullman Sails to have a well-established sailmaking business in Hawaii. Marc Barra is our in-house sailmaker and established local small boat racing sailor.
