Aoki Teppanyaki, formerly known as Rocky Teppanyaki and Benihana, is located near the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki. Guests first discover the tranquil garden and Koi pond before entering the restaurant with its modern meets traditional interior design of bold red walls, wood panel ceilings, and shoji screens imported from Japan. Trained chefs arrive in sleek, black, Samurai inspired uniforms once seated at the family-style “teppanyaki” (iron plate grill) tables. Customers select from a wide range of menu items, including Filet Mignon, Lobster, and A5 Wagyu beef from Japan. Next, the show begins as the chefs prepare the selections in a fiery and dramatic display, coining the phrase “eater-tainment.” Wanting to share his experience when visiting his grandfather’s village in Wakayama, Japan, Aoki Group founder, Kevin Aoki, has also added “Inaka” (countryside) comfort food items to the menu.
