History
ABC's humble history started with seven contractors meeting in a Baltimore living room in 1950 to discuss the shared belief that construction contracts should be awarded on merit to the most qualified lowest-priced responsible bidder. Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) is a national construction industry trade association representing nearly 21,000 chapter members. Founded on the merit shop philosophy, ABC and its 70 chapters help members develop people, win work and deliver that work safely, ethically, profitably and for the betterment of the communities in which ABC and its members work. Visit us at www.abc.org. The Hawaii Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. was founded in 1989 to represent Merit Shop Contractors throughout the State of Hawaii. In 2014 we celebrated our 25th Anniversary!
