Established in 1912, the Winder Police Department works to provide law enforcement services and ensure the safety and security of citizens. It operates administration, communication, K-9, emergency management and training divisions. The department s patrol division offers neighborhood, business and housing authority patrol services. In addition, the Winder Police Department maintains probation, jail and civilian support divisions. Its criminal investigations division handles cases of theft, domestic violence, criminal trespass, assault, rape and armed robbery. The department has a citizens police academy that provides various classes on crime prevention techniques. The Winder Police Department is comprised of more than 40 sworn and nonsworn officers. It is located in Winder, Ga.
