Headquartered in Athens, Ga., Campus Transit System is a unit of the Auxiliary Services Department providing transportation services throughout the University of Georgia campus. It operates more than 35 buses on weekday routes and over five buses on nighttime routes. The system covers an average of more than 3,500 route miles and makes over 1,600 daily bus trips. It also provides bus and disabled transportation services, provided on a no-fare basis, and also provides weekend services to many destinations on campus. Its fleet of vehicles includes more than 45 buses, five vans equipped for the disabled, two Ford cutaways with bus body, and over five staff and service vehicles for supervisory and roadside repair capabilities. Campus Transit System additionally provides charter bus service to the University community, as well as providing professional drivers to departments on temporary basis. The system also offers daily interlibrary mail service between member units of the Atlanta Regional Consortium for Higher Education.
