Trip Elementary School was opened in the late 2000s in the Grayson High School cluster to help relieve some of the overcrowding at Grayson Elementary School. In the 2009-10 school year, Trip Elementary increased the average score in 20 of the 21 grade-level content areas on the CRCTs, with the greatest increases reflected in fifth-grade math, third-grade language arts and first-grade math. In addition, the percentage of students who scored in the Exceeds Standards range on all subtests of the CRCT increased by 7.4 percentage points. In reading, 96 percent of the students passed the CRCT with 42 percent exceeding standards; In language arts, 93 percent of the students passed with 44 percent exceeding standards and in math, 89 percent of the students passed with 43 percent exceeding standards. In addition, 87 percent of students in grades 3 - 5 either met or exceeded grade-level science on the CRCT, with 47 percent exceeding standards.
