Established by Shannon Grant in 2007, this massage center offers neuromuscular, corporate and deep tissue massage. The Art of Touch is located in a renovated, art-filled house one block from Piedmont Park. Besides Grant, there are 11 massage therapists on staff. Specialties include Swedish and Thai modalities, myofascial release, reflexology, hot stone and Fijian barefoot massage, as well as techniques designed for couples, athletes, infants, clients with cancer, pregnant women and women trying to conceive.
The Art of Touch offers massages from 30 minutes to two hours in length. Special packages include "Barefoot and Pregnant," "Eastern Bodywork Experience," "Because You Both Deserve It" and "Spoil Them Rotten." For a fee, Art of Touch will also add a post-massage picnic basket with lunch and other goodies to a couple's massage. The center hosts a monthly book club (past authors include Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Evelyn Waugh and Sue Monk Kidd) and, occasionally, evening therapeutic art shows with chair massages, wine and cheese pairings and work by local artists.
