Trackmobile manufactures the Trackmobile branded line of railcar-moving vehicles for in-plant and yard switching and spotting. More than 8,000 Trackmobiles are in operation worldwide. The Trackmobiles are wheeled units, making them a mobile alternative to stationary railcar-moving units. Trackmobile is based in an 81,000-square-foot facility in LaGrange, Ga. Its history dates back to 1947 as an in-plant project at Whiting Corporation in Harvey, Ill. Trackmobile moved to LaGrange in 1980 and became a subsidiary of The Marmon Group in 1987, operating in Marmon s transportation services division. The Marmon Group is an international association of more than 100 companies that operate independently within diverse business sectors. Based in Chicago, Marmon provides consulting and administrative services, including tax and accounting services, legal counsel and management consulting, to its member companies.
