Special Olympics Georgia is an international organization that works for the development of athletic skills of individuals who suffer from physical and mental disabilities. It serves more than 22,000 athletes in over 100 programs that are operational in nearly 100 countries. Founded in 1968, the organization maintains a work force of several certified coaches and support staff members. Special Olympics Georgia additionally organizes various fundraising activities and is funded by individuals, corporations, foundations and civic groups. The organization operates a family camp that conducts several recreational activities, such as arts and crafts sessions, boating and fishing.
