Because of the huge increase in students at the original Sarah Rawson Smith Elementary School, a second campus for third through fifth grade opened in 2010. Constructed of Tennessee Crab Orchard sandstone, the Intermediate Campus building at 4141 Wieuca Road houses state-of-the art educational technology and classrooms into which sunlight pours through large windows. The computer lab is equipped with MacIntosh computers and classrooms feature interactive whiteboards. The original campus at 370 Old Ivy Road houses kindergarten through second grade. Both campuses offer the International Baccalaureate program. The challenge program teaches gifted students advanced skills. The school also has special classes in art and foreign languages. The recipient of numerous awards, Sarah Smith is recognized as one of the top schools in the Atlanta metro area and state of Georgia.
