Host to the Georgia BBQ Classic, a benefit for Bartow County's Advocates for Children, and the Pioneer Days festival, Sam Smith Park offers a festival area and multi-purpose fields. The complex also houses the Senior Aquatic Center, an indoor swimming pool dedicated to seniors age 50 and above.
The acquatic center is open from 7am to 8pm Monday through Wednesday and on Friday, and from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday and 8am to noon on Saturday. In addition to open swim times, there are classes that include water aerobics, water walking and water yoga. Male and female locker rooms with showers are available. Daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual passes can be purchased at the Dellinger Park office, and patrons can renew via phone with Visa or MasterCard.
The city of Cartersville's Etowah Riverwalk, an approximate 2.5-mile paved multi-purpose trail, begins at Sam Smith Park with a hike by the Etowah River behind the Senior Aquatic Center. The riverwalk, a mostly flat surface with one incline, extends to the Cartersville Soccer Complex at 152 Milner Road in Cartersville and on to Dellinger Park at 100 Pine Grove Road in Cartersville.
