The Rome Public Works Department provides services and operations to the residents of Rome, Ga. The engineering division provides broad support to other areas of the department and performs basic field surveys for water, sewer and road construction. The street division maintains more than 200 miles of city streets. It is responsible for repairing, patching and resurfacing the roadways. The traffic and electrical division is responsible for the installation and maintenance of traffic signals and various electrical systems throughout the city and Floyd County. The solid waste collections division collects residential garbage, while the solid waste processing and disposal division operates and maintains the Walker Mountain landfill. The cemetery division owns and operates the Myrtle Hill, Oakland, Eastview and Oakhill cemeteries. The public works garage division maintains all public works vehicles, heavy equipment and police vehicles. The Rome Public Works Department has its offices in Rome, Ga.
