This Pan-African Orthodox Christian Church is also known as the Shrine of the Black Madonna. Rev. Albert B. Cleage Jr. (Jaramogi Abebe Agyeman) founded The Shrine of the Black Madonna of the Pan-African Orthodox Church, previously the Central Congregational Church, in 1953. The national office is located in Detroit, and there also are Shrines in Houston, Texas and Calhoun Falls, South Carolina (Beulah Land Farm). Atlanta's Shrine includes a bookstore and cultural center at the same address as the church.
