Located in a renovated Victorian house, this two-storey restaurant serves an extensive menu of Chinese and Thai food in cozy but classy dining rooms upstairs and downstairs. Outdoor seating on the porch overlooks Juniper Street. A full bar on the first floor serves wine, beer and mixed drinks. Mu Lan specializes in seafood dishes, such as Triple Delecacies, Jade Mounting Scallops, Boy Choy Shrimp and Glazed Walnut Mango Prawn. The menu also offers familiar Americanized Chinese dishes, a low-calorie menu ("spa cuisine"), noodles, vegetarian options and a selection of cheaper lunch specials. In a nod to its regulars, the restaurant has filled the entryway with hundreds of photos of Mu Lan diners and continues to collect photos.
