Lisa Rochon has spent years as the go-to hair stylist for the children of Atlanta. For over 10 years she has cut children's hair at special children's booths in adult salons and in salons dedicated just for children. In September 2010, Ms. Rochon decided to step out on her own and opened this shop located at the back of the Two Decatur Center Building in downtown. Although the shop is not visible from Clairemont Avenue, word of mouth and reputation has allowed Ms. Ruchon to do as brisk a business here as she had in tonier Atlanta salons. Her salon is a kid's delight. One stylist chair is a an airplane; another a bright red racing car. The room next to the shampoo station is taken over amost entirely by a train set. All this to make her young customers feel comfortable, or at least distract them long enough to snip away at frayed ends. The more kids squeal and squirm in their seats, says Ms. Rochon, "The calmer I get on the inside." Her shop's advertising slogan is "Screamers are welcome." More and more often Ms. Rochon is asked to cut parent's hair as well and her salon has become a one stop hair cut destination for entire families. Prices for cuts start at $15.
