This Adamsville neighborhood school operates under the motto, "We're Miles Above The Rest." Leonora Precious Miles Elementary opened in 1907 with an enrollment of 73 students. According to the school website, it was the first school for African-American students in the Adamsville and Boulder Park communities. Miles has been recognized as a Georgia Title I Distinguished School. By 2012, the school hopes to eliminate the state achievement gap, with at least 40% of its students exceeding Georgia CRCT testing standards.
