Founded in 1938, the Marietta Housing Authority offers a variety of housing programs. It administers a rent subsidy program, Housing Choice Voucher Program, which is designed to assist low-income families in paying rent for private housing facilities. The housing authority provides assistance to more than 1,300 families through this program. Its Marietta Housing Authority Initative for Homeownership Opportunities In Marietta (MIHOM) program provides eligible homebuyers with down-payment and closing cost assistance to purchase homes located within the city limits of Marietta, Ga. It also operates homeownership vouchers and public and senior housing programs. In addition, the Marietta Housing Authority administers Shelter Plus Care and Family Self-Sufficiency programs.
