Langdale Forest Products Company manufactures softwood lumber, poles, fence posts, wood chips and wood preserving. The company began producing southern yellow pine lumber in the 1940's. Its lumber division is located in Valdosta, Ga, site of the corporate home office. At this 150-acre facility, Langdale debarks and preps more than 100 truckloads of logs per day for its sawmill. Production facilities at the plant include: a state-of-the-art sawmill, 3 dry kilns and a high-speed planer. The machinery, manned by skilled personnel, produces over 110 million board feet of southern yellow pine lumber per year. The company's forestlands are scientifically managed in order to produce the most fiber possible. In 1991 the Langdale planted its 50 millionth seedling.
