The Hickory Flat Volunteer Fire Department serves an area of more than 100 square miles with a population of over 9,000 residents. It is comprised of 45 members and volunteer firefighters and has various pumpers and tankers, as well as utilizes a mobile air unit. The department maintains a training division that trains members in fire suppression, emergency medical services, extrication, and rope, heavy rescue techniques. The Hickory Flat Volunteer Fire Department works to reduce suffering and damage due to fire, environmental emergencies, natural disasters and other catastrophes through prevention, education and suppression. It operates a communication and dispatch center that coordinates responses to various emergency and nonemergency calls for service. The department works under the government of Canton, Ga.

Hickory Flat Fire Station

The Hickory Flat Fire Station 23 primarily serves the Hickory Flat community, but is available if other Cherokee county units are in need of extra manpower. They pride themselves on their extensive fire, EMS and rescue training. Station 23 is one of the professional stations of the Second Battalion of the Cherokee County Fire Department.

Clayton Fire Dept

This new fire station, which opened September 17, 2010, houses the Clayton Community Volunteer Fire Department and Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services Station No. 6. It was dedicated to J.H. Payne, the former head of the station who died last year. If you have an emergency, do not call this facility. Call 911.

Bartow County Fire Department

Established in 1970, the Bartow County Fire Department operates more than 10 fire stations that provide fire protection services for the unincorporated areas of Bartow County, as well as for the cities of Kingston, Euharlee, Taylorsville, Emerson and White in Georgia. The department has more than 65 full-time and 15 part-time employees and over 50 volunteer firefighters. Its equipment includes trucks, frontline pumpers, tankers, ambulances, grass and light-rescue rigs, and heavy-rescue and utility vehicles. The department s other services include rescue, vehicle extrication, first responder and EMT assistance to the Bartow County Emergency Medical Services, initial response to hazardous material incidences, assistance to local law enforcement agencies, victim recovery from drowning and fire safety education.
